Emma & Luke { Grafton Wedding Photographer }

March 7th, 2010

It was meant to be. Two beautiful people chose yesterday to confirm their commitment to each other at the lookout, Brooms Head. You know when you can tell things will be ok even though they look treacherous? That was us yesterday as it rained, then cleared & then rained some more. As we drove from Woodford Island down to Brooms the rain eased as we got closer to the coast & became a soft sprinkle by the time we arrived. When we found out the limousine was late I knew it would give Emma & Luke just enough time…………

Pat & the girls at home on the island.

The boys at Grafton

The littlest groomsmen goes over his reading one more time……

The girls wore matching rings……..

And even the smallest family members dressed up……

The umbrella fashions were very impressive……

Paul & Emma

The most spectacular registry signing anywhere.

The afternoon closed in & once again lashed us with rain…..

Not before a return to the Paul & Pat’s horse stud on Woodford Island.

By now I think it had begun to sink in.

Mr & Mrs Foley sitting pretty, & surely pondering the rest of their lives together. What a day it had been. We all knew that life had smiled upon us & that Luke & Emma could take this day as surety that they are meant for each other & that the life they share will be blessed with love.

Many thanks & love, Ben & Jodie.

Mick & Me { North Coast Music Photographer }

February 22nd, 2010

On Thursday I spent the afternoon with Mick McHugh. As far as photo shoots go, it felt more like hanging out with an old friend. All shoots are an organic, meandering record of time & some take on a life of their own as creativity & ideas flow & take concepts to places you don’t immediately envisage. This particular brief was simple – passion & honesty, maybe invoking the mood & sense of space of Ireland ( Mick’s birthplace ) while being on the North Coast of NSW, to show that creativity & musicianship is something you have inside & not dependant so much on where you are, but rather who you are & what you have to say.

Creativity is meaningless if you have nothing to say, & useless if it does not take you anywhere. Realising it is the journey & not the destination is the one of the first big steps towards in being confident in your art & being able to express yourself honestly & openly. We realised we both do what we do for the same reasons, & that we are both driven by a desire to communicate with the world & those around us, although in different mediums.

After some time in the CBD of Lismore we headed out to a friends house. Would the weather hold & give us the mood & drama in the late afternoon light that we had hoped for? Yep! Maybe a rainbow was asking too much??? Nope!

A window of 15 minutes was all we got, after which the clouds swallowed the sun & the delicate layers of dreamy, hazy light were flattened by a murky, half lit blanket. It was all we needed though & life was beautiful.

Mick plays regularly around the area & up & down the coast. Follow the link in the first paragraph & check him out if you love original, passionate & honest music & art. Bigger things are calling

Kobey

Kobey is getting some stiff competition for the title of “cutest”, but he is winning the “cheekiest” one  hands down.

Note to self: If you want the kids to play in their splash pool, just add some bubbles! Thanks for a top afternoon & for sharing your family. March 20th is going to be a blast. See you all soon.

“Place me like a seal over your heart, like a seal on your arm; for love is as strong as death, its jealousy unyeilding as the grave.

It burns like blazing fire, like a mighty flame.” Son 8:6,7

And so it was on a damp & murky but gloriously uplifting Saturday afternoon  when 180 guests witnessed the union of  Seth & Lara on David & RobynAnn Shaw’s farm at Clovass, near Casino.

A vintage dress of great beauty…..A great beauty, ponders what lies ahead.

The groomsmen, were fashionably late, which amused everyone.

The rain forced the ceremony inside the giant marquee. The air was thick with anticipation….

…..the relief & joy once the union was official was palpable & felt by everyone.

Rachel & Lara.

David & Seth

We headed out in near darkness for some photos

Photobooth fun-It never cease to amaze me how much a wig & a pair of glasses can change a person……..We are both so happy for the two of you. Your faith is so strong & you are surrounded by beautiful people at every turn. Your love will endure & continue to burn for all time. Thanks for the pleasure of being there & to bearing witness to the day. See you both soon, love Ben & Jodie xoxo

Lara, Seth & the Fauxto Booth { Engaged }

January 24th, 2010

In a couple of weeks this beautiful two will marry & continue to steer their lives in exciting directions. Seth, the boy from the big smoke will marry Lara, the country girl with the piercing blue eyes. We cannot wait!

We began the afternoon with Lara’s Great Grandmother, Ivy. Ivy is 103 (!!!) & cannot attend the wedding.It was then off to Seth & Lara’s gorgeous new house. It is the sort of house that always reminds me I am in Lismore, with wood panelling, lead lighting & gorgeous oak tree lined streets.And magical afternoon light……….Thanks very much for a great afternoon. If your wedding is this much fun……….well! Stay tuned…….
