And another thing about having a child born into your life is the community that surrounds you & your new life. There is more than one birth as the grandparents are new people with a different take on their lives & are reborn in their own way. This has been one of the best & unexpected eventuations in my life. Hats off to the grandparents of the world ……….& to seeing them in a new light.

Happy New Year!!! A beautiful wedding to start the year & time spent with a beautiful family to precede that…………made getting chased up & down the coast & even inland by torrential rain & scary, scary lightning that made our car shake, well worthwhile.

Oh to eat & enjoy ice cream like a child again………..

For those of you that don’t maintain a regular blog – you might be surprised to learn that it is very time consuming, albeit rewarding. That is my way of saying I have too much to blog & not enough time to do my posts. But I am promising to knock some out soon. Starting with some kids work……….soon!

Before Christmas I spent a few brilliant days at Federal CCC. It is a beautiful centre, with a beautiful philosophy. And of course fantastic, bright children.

The beautiful surrounds match the atmosphere & we all had lunch together each day. The children wouldn’t let me throw my rubbish in the bin as I had to “take it home so my mum could see how much I had eaten”

It was a brilliant way to end the year. Stay tuned for this years children’s work.

A very warm weekend {North Coast Family Photographer}

Can’t say I was unhappy the weekend was over or that we didn’t have any weddings to shoot. Apart from the searing heat it meant we could photograph two beautiful families. The beach & the country, the best of both parts of our beautiful region. There aren’t too many jobs in which you can work bare foot. Bliss!

The Taylor family have been rescheduled a few times but this weekend we got it right. It was 34 degrees at 9am in Lennox on Saturday morning. But it certainly didn’t bother these beautiful children, or Nikki & Ray for that matter.

I have already photographed this dazzling three some at First Steps. but on Sunday we had a bit more time to let things flow & got to meet Kirstin & Andrew as well, not to mention their two beautiful husky’s.

Kids Do the Cutest Things {North Coast Children’s Photographer}

Kids do, don’t they? They do the cutest things.

Our philosophy on photographing children is simple.

Children are people, albeit little ones. You don’t patronise your children, so we don’t either.

We don’t look down on them, or talk down to them. They have good days & bad days, just like we do. They experience a range of emotions at any given time.

Observe them, talk to them, ask questions ( they will let you know what they like, & what they don’t like) & most importantly meet them at their level & listen to them. No one likes it when someone doesn’t listen to them.

Just like everyone else that we meet, children can teach us a lot, about ourselves & about people. They don’t pull any punches & shoot straight from the hip.

Having said all of that, when the moment comes you still have to make sure that you capture it! If you are having a bad day, or are tempted to feel sorry for your self, I guarantee spending some time with children will realign your focus (so to speak) & put things into perspective.
